EU: Young film maker competition - #EUandME
The Young film maker competition is part of the #EUandME campaign.
This competition is a short film contest for filmmakers between the ages of 18 and 35. Participants must be a resident of an EU Member State. Participants must already have made at least one short film in the past. They must include a link to a short film they have made in their application.
Contestants must submit an idea for a short film that tells a story linked to the impact of the European Union in people’s daily life. Entries can be submitted in one of 5 categories:
- Skills & business.
Each category will have a winner, who will receive a grant to realise their film. To apply, participants must submit a written synopsis of the film and a short smartphone video in which they explain their motivation and the concept of their film. They must include in their application a link to a short film they have made in the past. The EU will conduct a pre-selection on the basis of eligibility and a number of selection criteria, then a jury of senior film directors will select two nominees for each category. The 5 winners will be selected by a public vote online, which will take place in January-February 2019.

Each of the 5 winners will be awarded with a grant of €7,500 to realise their films.
The 5 selected films must be completed and delivered before 30 April 2019. The films must be no longer than 5 minutes.
The winning films will be published on the #EUandME campaign’s website and will be offered to leading national media for publication. The 5 winning films will be screened during an Awards ceremony that will take place as of June 2019.
The deadline for submissions is 31 October 2018 at 12.00 CET.
Persons connected with the organisation of this competition, including persons working for the European Union institutions, are excluded from participating.
