Blockathon competition

The Blockathon competition aims to act as a catalyst for innovation. It seeks to unlock the potential of blockchain, by joining efforts of the community to develop solutions that would easily track the provenance of products. The overall goal of the Blockathon is to give enforcement authorities the tools to rapidly identify fakes and criminals, help legitimate companies to protect their business assets and provide tools for consumers to make informed choices.

During a 4 day innovation event the best teams will work together on the three challenges:

  • Consumer Challenge
  • Customs Authority Challenge
  • Logistic Operator Challenge

The objective of each of these challenges is to combat counterfeiting from different stakeholder approaches, whilst protecting the interests of the rights holders.

The Blockathon will assemble top specialists in law, IP rights, anti-counterfeiting, track and trace, ecosystem dynamics, logistics and security to support the 10 selected teams. The total prize to be awarded is EUR 100.000. This is the unique opportunity to work together with everyone you need to achieve the best possible solutions and to explore how blockchain technology can actually make a difference and lead to a better society.

Teams can enter the Blockathon competition through a simple online application form no later than 12.00 (noon, Central European Time, CET), 30 April 2018.
