The Government of Bangladesh has taken a systematic approach towards renewable energy development.

Accordingly a Renewable Energy Policy has been adopted in 2009. Through that policy GOB has declared to generate 2,000 MW ofelectricity from renewable sources by 2020. 

In the course of promoting a renewable energy development program in Bangladesh,  the national Electricity Generation Company (EGCBL) has identified a potential grid-connected renewable energy project.
