Destination 1: Climate neutral, Circular and Digitised Production, Destination 2: Increased Autonomy in Key Strategic Value Chains for Resilient Industry, Destination 3: World-leading Data and Computing Technologies, Destination 4: Digital & Emerging Technologies for Competitiveness and Fit for the Green Deal, Destination 5: Open Strategic Autonomy in Developing, Deploying and Using Global Space-Based Infrastructures, Services, Applications and Data, and Destination 6: A human-centred and ethical development of digital and industrial technologies. The overall budget for the Cluster is 2.7 billion euros. The calls for proposals focus on topics such as the twin green and digital transition, the diversification of the international supplier chain, the circular economy, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, Internet of Things, cybersecurity, big data, robotics, quantum technologies, the European Green Deal, the European space programme, Egnos, Galileo, Copernicus, and the Cassini programme. Deadlines for the calls range from 8 December 2022 to 19 March 2024.
Progress in digital and industrial technologies, including in space, shapes all sectors of the economy and society. They transform the way industry develops, create new products and services and are central to any sustainable future. That is the main reason the European Commission dedicated Cluster 4 of the Horizon Europe work programme 2023- 2024 to ‘Digital, Industry and Space’.
Horizon Europe: develop new technologies with the EIC Transition 2023 call
The European Innovation Council (EIC) Transition Open 2023 call is a multi-sectoral funding instrument with a budget of 10 billion euros for the period 2021-2027. It is intended to support the maturation and validation of new technologies, as well as the development of the business model for the future commercialization of the innovation. Eligible projects include those funded by the EIC Pathfinder, ERC Proof of Concept projects, European Defence Fund projects, and FET Flagships calls. Projects can be submitted by a single entity or a small consortium of up to 5 legal entities. The EIC provides a contribution of up to 2.5 million euros for eligible costs, with an additional grant of up to 50 thousand euros for portfolio activities. The call opened in mid-January and has two deadlines: 12 April 2023 and 27 September 2023.
Provided by the European Innovation Council, the Transition call 2023 makes available about 68 million euros to fund innovation activities that go beyond experimental testing in the laboratory.
