The European Commission launched the Intelligent Cities Challenge as the successor to the Digital Cities Challenge.

Building on the Digital Cities Challenge, which saw 41 cities create a vision, strategy and roadmap for their digital transformation, the Intelligent Cities Challenge will guide cities to transform their digital policy to create more inclusive and sustainable urban environments.
