The ERC Starting Grants are designed to support excellent Principal Investigators at the career stage at which they are starting their own independent research team or programme. Principal Investigators must demonstrate the ground-breaking nature, ambition and feasibility of their scientific proposal.

The EC Funding and Tenders portal experienced issues on 7 April preventing users to access and submit their draft proposals. The ERCEA has therefore decided to extend the ERC STG 2021 call deadline by 24 hours, until Friday 9 April 17:00:00 (Brussels time).

The Principal Investigators shall have been awarded their first PhD at least 2 and up to 7
